To continue our #meettheteam series we are getting to know Alan! He started working with us over 12 years ago helping with design support challenges before rising to his current role as a Senior Design Consultant.
Before joining Integrity he studied at Loughborough on a BA course in 3D design specialising in Silversmithing before completing an MA in 3D Design at KIAD Rochester. Alan is now one of our longest serving team members and specialises in customer experience, brand management and brand rollouts for a number of our clients.
So let’s get started!
Tea or coffee?
As everyone in the office knows, it has to be coffee, black and strong. There is no other acceptable way to drink it!
When are you most creative?
I am definitely a morning person, I work best then and that's why I get into the office early as that’s when I’m most productive …. with a black coffee!
Can you remember what it was that made you want to get into this industry?
I always had an open mind for design, but it started from school, art was one of the few things I enjoyed. I liked having my own ideas; in art, there is more than one answer and from there I gravitated towards an art degree.
What part of your job do you enjoy the most?
I enjoy every stage, but the part I enjoy the most is when we finish the project and gain good feedback from the client. It's the acknowledgement that we’ve done a good job and have benefited their business in some way. Seeing the transformation from beginning to end is also a plus for me.
Favourite YouTube video?
This is a hard one as I do watch a lot of YouTube videos. But a classic that stands out for me has to be the dog with the maple bacon voice over.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
It has to be the Eurovision song contest. It was always a big deal in my house for some unknown reason and now I watch it every year. It's weird as I hate pop music but Eurovision is just something else. My stand out is Conchita from a couple of years ago.
What’s your favourite sport?
The only option is Hockey. I played it until 2011 when I retired from the sport. It was too full on and took up too much of my time as I wanted to have a family. I played for teams in the English premier league and one team had a lot of GB players which was great as I was playing with them, at their level. I won the university championships twice which was also a great achievement.
Who’s your celebrity doppelganger?
According to Katie, it's Andrew Garland… Garfield? I guess there is a resemblance there, and he is younger than me so I'll take that. If I hadn't of been told I wouldn’t have had a clue!
What have you achieved that you're most proud of?
It would be my family. It's normal, and understandable, for people to choose awards, which I have won with my Hockey. But it has to be my family for me, it is what I am most proud of.
Finally, can you draw us a self-portrait, please?
