John Lewis have a proud history and brand reputation that are second to none when it comes to department store retailing.
Whilst the department stores themselves have beautifully designed environments and signage, the head office work environment was lacking a sense of identity. Integrity worked through a structured process to develop the working environment at the John Lewis head office building to bring a level of excellence to match the department stores.
To develop each area of the head office, we engaged each department team in brainstorm and development sessions to unpack the department ethos and DNA, and then translated this into workplace designs. We applied our standard process for workplace branding design, from initial concept design right through to the specification and artworking of the signage and graphics and overseeing their installation.
Beyond the department workspaces project we then developed branding for common areas - the reception, cafe and lift lobbies. Delving through the John Lewis archives and selecting the most beautiful adverts from the early 19th century to promote the long legacy of the John Lewis brand.
